| Barry Dayman was born in Saskatchewan but has lived most of his life in B.C. He is primarily a self-taught artist, specializing in mixed media sculpture and clay figures. Over the last few years, he has expanded his work from a hobby into a compulsion. Art has always been a part of his family, from an aunt and a grandmother who painted landscapes to a brother who was a curator in the Castelli gallery in NYC. Music has also been part of his life and is reflected in some of his pieces which include musical instruments that have passed from useful into artistic impression. He also works with clay, plaster of paris, found objects, glass and most recently cement fondue. | |
